How to choose the right bike for you.
There are a few things to keep in mind when choosing the right bike for you.
1.) Size. What size is right for you? If you took one of our classes you most likely took the class on a 125cc or a 250cc shifting bike. Each rider is different, and it really depends on what you are comfortable with. We suggest test riding a few, before making your final decision. Start on the low end, and work your way up.
2.) Weight. You should be able to hold the bike up once seated on it, if it feels to heavy, your on to big of a bike, try a smaller one until you are comfortable with the weight.
3.) Height. When seated on the motorcycle, your feet should be planted firmly on the ground. Some are comfortable with being able to place the balls of their feet on the ground. Either way, you want to be able to hold the bike up and stable with your feet on the ground.
4.) Feet placement. Place your feet on the foot rests, make sure you are comfortable with the placement, ask if the pegs are adjustable, some are. Find what works for you, remember you will be riding in that position for extended periods of time.
5.) Hand grips. When your hands are on the hand grips, are you reaching too far forward? To close? Are you elbows bent a weird way? Make sure you are comfortable, and ask if any adjustments could be made to make them more comfortable for you. Again, you will be riding in the position for long periods of time.
These are just a few, its all about what makes you as a rider comfortable. Test ride a few before making up your mind. Listen to your gut, not your friends! You are riding this bike, not them!
